Home Purchasing Tips
Remember when you Mother used to tell you to "do your
homework!". Well, that sage advice really helps when
purchasing a home, too.
To help you along in the process, we've provided a time-tested,
step-by-step process for finding, and then purchasing, your home.
Following these steps is advice that your Mother would approve of.
1) Describe the home you would like to own. Think about
the location, type of building, features, price range, etc. It's
important to be realistic. Look for examples in real estate
publications, the newspapers, or on the Web.
2) Find a mortgage broker. With a vision of the home
you'd like to own, contact a mortgage broker (Loangistics, for
example). Your mortgage broker can begin the all-important
application process and provide you with a commitment letter.
Getting a commitment letter is better than being "prequalified",
as many lenders/brokers will push. The commitment letter gives you
a specific home value that you can be
3) Find a good realtor. With a vision of your future
home and commitment letter in hand, your realtor will help you find the
home of your dreams (and budget). Not all realtors are created
equal, so a little research is valuable here too. Find a realtor
who specializes in matching people with homes in your price range.
Loangistics can refer you to a good match if you're interested.
4) Find your new home. With the help of your realtor,
evaluate all of your alternatives and decide which home is best for
you. This part is often the most fun, so enjoy it!
5) Write a contract. Your realtor will help you with
this process and advise you as necessary. Be sure to review all
paper work and ask lots of questions. You'll face a lot of jargon,
but your realtor can explain it all in plain terms for you.
6) Finalize your mortgage loan. When you've got a
contract, Loangistics will finalize your mortgage loan and take care of
the details.
7) Close on your home. In most cases, you can count of
Loangistics to be present at your closing. We don't believe that
our job is done until the closing is final. We'll be there in the
case that there are any last minute issues. Just part of our
service to you.
